This year’s Native Art Market at the Arts + Literature Laboratory in Madison was truly something special. The event brought together Indigenous artists from across the region to share our work, stories, and culture with the community, and the turnout was amazing!
From the moment the doors opened, the energy in the building was full of excitement, conversation, and appreciation for Native artistry. I was so grateful for the opportunity to represent Starr Merrie Native Gifts and showcase my beadwork alongside so many talented makers. The market provided not only a wonderful day of sales but also meaningful connections with new supporters, fellow artists, and community members.

One of my favorite parts of the day was tabling next to Liandra Skenandore, who shared her knowledge and passion for basket making. It was inspiring to watch her work on some baskets right there at her table, a beautiful reminder of how our art forms are living traditions, carried forward through practice, patience, and love.
Our conversations throughout the day filled me with joy and reminded me how special it is to create in community with other Oneida artists. Events like this are about more than selling art, they’re about preserving culture, sparking conversations, and building bridges between artists and the wider public. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire Arts + Literature Laboratory staff for organizing such a thoughtful and well-run event. Their support and hospitality made the day seamless and welcoming for everyone involved. To everyone who stopped by my table, shared kind words, or purchased something - yawʌˀkó·. Your encouragement helps keep these traditions thriving.

I’m already looking forward to my next market and the opportunity to continue growing, connecting, and sharing our stories through art. Hope to see you Nov. 15th at the Oneida Community Health Center Art Market!
