Unveiling the Rich Culture of the Oneida Nation: Join Us on a Journey of Knowledge and Tradition

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you - we're now part of the Planting of Seeds of Knowledge artist roster! Our mission is to foster understanding and appreciation of the culture, traditions, and history of the Oneida Nation. Through a series of engaging presentations and workshops, we aim to plant the seeds of knowledge in the hearts and minds of our audience.


Discover Our Offerings:


1. Corn Husk Dolls Presentation (Grades 3+, 45 minutes)


Step into the world of the Oneida Nation and the sacred Three Sisters: corn, beans, and squash. Learn about the fascinating Corn Husk Doll story and the symbolism behind these unique creations. For an interactive experience, we offer an option to make your own corn husk dolls.


2. Ribbon Skirt Making (Grades 6+, 4-day Residency)


Dive deeper into the traditions of the Haudenosaunee as you embark on a creative journey to craft a ribbon skirt. In this four-day residency program, students will not only create a beautiful garment but also gain insight into the traditional family roles of the Oneida Nation.


3. Maple Tree Presentation (Grades 3+, 45 minutes)


Discover the significance of the Maple Tree in Oneida culture and the beautiful concept of the Thanksgiving Address. This presentation will not only educate but also engage with a hands-on art activity related to this cherished symbol.


4. Raised Beadwork Workshop (Grades 6+, Full Day Workshop)


Explore the intricate world of raised beadwork and create your very own raised beaded strawberries. This full-day workshop provides a deep dive into the art of beadwork and the materials used in the creation of regalia.


5. Removal and Resettlement in Wisconsin (Grades 6+, 45 minutes)


Take a historical journey and learn about the Oneida Nation's resilience and strength as we recount their removal from their homelands and their resettlement in Wisconsin. This eye-opening presentation is followed by an engaging activity.



Our goal is to offer a range of educational experiences suitable for different age groups. Whether you're a student or a teacher, there's an opportunity to explore and appreciate the rich heritage of the Oneida Nation. We believe that understanding the past is the key to building a better future.
