Journey Through Oneida Arts: A Special Presentation by Eliza Skenandore at Kress Library

Writer: Eliza SkenandoreEliza Skenandore

On October 12, I had the honor of visiting Kress Library to share my journey as an Oneida artist. It was a beautiful day filled with storytelling, culture, and creativity. The presentation began by introducing who the Oneida Nation is, giving everyone a glimpse into the rich heritage that shapes my work. I also shared my personal experience attending the Oneida Nation School System. My internship at the Oneida Nation Musem and how that journey led me to discover the art of raised beadwork.

After the presentation, I guided a hands-on cornhusk doll workshop, one of my favorite cultural traditions to share.

Afterward, my family and I took some time to explore the library and enjoy the community atmosphere.

This event was made possible thanks to the SEEDS Grant, and I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the Oneida Nation Arts Program for their support in bringing Oneida culture to more spaces.
