This past weekend was a special journey for my husband, Shawn, and me. We had an amazing opportunity to join a raised beadwork workshop at the Northrup King Building in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The workshop took place on October 14th and 15th and was made possible through a full scholarship, thanks to a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council. Our deepest thanks go to Rosy Simas for making this experience possible.

The Workshop and Instructor

The workshop was taught by Karen Ann Hoffman, an expert in raised beadwork. Her guidance and expertise were invaluable, and we were lucky to have her as our teacher. Her generosity in sharing her knowledge and skills was truly inspiring.

Northrup King Building

We explored our creative side at the historic Northrup King Building, a hub for artists in Minneapolis. Surrounded by the work of many talented artists, we found inspiration everywhere we looked. The setting was perfect for our weekend adventure.

Full of Gratitude

We can't thank Rosy Simas enough for making this opportunity a reality. Her dedication to promoting the arts and nurturing creativity in her community has left a lasting impact on us. We are fortunate to have people like Rosy who work to enrich the lives of artists.

This weekend reminded us of the transformative power of art. It brings people together, fosters creativity, and provides opportunities we might not have had otherwise. We left the workshop with newfound skills and a deeper appreciation for raised beadwork.

As we reflect on this remarkable weekend, we're excited to continue our creative journey. We're full of gratitude for the support, guidance, and inspiration we received from Karen Ann. A heartfelt thanks to Karen Ann Hoffman for sharing her skills, knowledge, and passion for raised beadwork with us. Your generosity has enriched our lives in so many ways.

I've had a lifelong ambition of attending a class taught by Karen Ann, and finally realizing this dream brought immense joy. It really made the four-hour drive from the Oneida Nation Reservation worth it! Throughout the entire experience, I made an effort to contain my excitement and not geek out completely.

We also extend our gratitude to the Minnesota State Arts Board, the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, and, most importantly, Rosy Simas & Karen Ann Hoffman, for making this unforgettable experience possible.
